Welcome!

Refresh your home, Refresh your walls

With today’s tight budgets, many of us have had to put home beautification projects on hold. But there is good news! You can refresh your house or apartment – or just one room – with these tips for inexpensive improvements and enhancements. Choose the room you like the least – the room that most needs a facelift – and then consider these ideas:

COLOR makes all the difference. If you have a room with white, grey, beige or cream walls, consider changing one, two, or all 4 walls to something more vibrant. Maybe a nice warm yellow or pale green. If the cost of paint has you down, go to your local home supply store and look for the “OOPS” shelf. When people return paint that they changed their mind about, it gets sold for a fraction of the original cost. And sometimes you get lucky and a color you really like is waiting there for you! Also – many of us homeowners have unused paint sitting around. If you email a few friends who own houses and ask for paint, someone just might have some for you!

Once you’ve changed the wall color in a room – or you like the color but simply want to jazz up your room’s look – consider WALL DECALS and adhesives. You’ll find a great selection of designs at www.surfaceflik.com, and this is an affordable way to achieve a whole new look.

Adding a few new ACCESSORIES can change up a room and make it seem new and different. Wall sconces, vases, storage cubes, incense burners – get inexpensive items from the Clearance section of your favorite stores. Better yet, try an afternoon of visiting Consignment shops and Goodwill and Salvation Army stores in your area for unique décor items at a deep discount! Love an item but it’s a little beat up? Apply ‘rub ‘n buff’ metallic stain or a fresh coat of paint to make it new again.

A simple solution for freshening up a boring area is a VASE full of fresh FLOWERS. Just adding a $7 bouquet will brighten a room (and your mood) for several days! Well worth it! Snazz up an inexpensive (wimpy) bouquet by adding a few greens from your own yard – any leafy branch, vines or fronds can make the bouquet fuller and more beautiful.

Last but not least, do a little DE CLUTTERING to give your home a refreshed look. Have a yard sale and make some money to purchase your new and exciting wall decals, vases, or paint!

Enjoy your re-done room!
